Activities

Paihia has a great selection of activities both on and off the water and most within walking distance of the motel. On the water, Fishing, Diving, Kayaking, Para-sailing, Jet ski hire, and surfing.
On the land, walk around historical Russel and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, take in a cultural performance that showcase’s traditional song and dance.
Nearby is Kerikeri with shopping, arts & crafts, cafe’s, wineries and more historical sites.

Parasail to 1200 feet
Parasail and get the best possible view of Paihia and the surrounding islands. Climb to 800 ft or even higher at a mesmerising 1200 feet ( the highest in NZ ) and an inexpensive way to see the bay from such height.

Dive some iconic ship wrecks, the famous Rainbow Warrior was Greenpeace’s old flag ship and was laid to rest just inside the Cavalli Islands and is a spectacular dive. Then more recently the HMNZS Canterbury, she is a 113m Leader class frigate scuttled in Deep Water Cove. Along with the wrecks there are the amazing reef dives at Cape Brett and Putahataha Island. Island Shuttle offer a drop-off and pickup to the main islands as well.

Paihia has a variety of castle and forest walks to explore, they show of the tranquillity and beauty the Bay of Islands has to offer.
From the 35 km castle “Cape Brett tack” to the “Puketi Virgin Rain Forest walks” there is a lot to explore. With several shorter walks through the bush to lookouts and waterfalls as well as a beautiful harbour walk to Opua this is a great place for those with itchy feet.
